This is the first time ever talking about presentations on my ESL podcast, so I hope you guys enjoy this.
I know a lot of students around the world have to do presentations in their English classes, so this speaking skill is essential. Not only that, having linkers, transitions, opening up your talk, and closing is very vital. So, let’s get into it.
Speaking Bank
Opening a talk: I’m going to talk about…..
Examples: Let me explain (why)….., for example, for instance
Signals: firstly, secondly, then, after that, finally
Adding information: In addition, furthermore, what’s more, another thing is that…
Adding to a point: it’s also true that…
Last point: last but not least,
Ending: in conclusion, to sum up, in summary
Task: The most important invention.
Think of an important invention and write notes. Think of a short introduction and short conclusion. Also, use time linkers and give examples by using (a, b, c) after your roman numerals.
- Short introduction about the invention you have chosen
- First and most important reason why you chose it
- Second reason
- Third reason
- Conclusion
