Positive Mental Attitude: Season 2 – Episode 7 – Attract Wealth — Don’t Repel It – Part II – Goal-setting

Everyone has to understand that goal-setting is the most important aspect of attracting wealth.  When I got complacent in 2015, I was just “content” with making the same salary I had already been making the previous x amount of months.  I no longer had goals.

It wasn’t until one day I saw Jack Canfield’s book ‘how to use the law of attraction’ on a bookshelf in a shopping plaza that I started setting goals for myself.

101 Goals was initiated — 70 have been claimed.

There was an exercise in that book that encouraged readers to write down their 101 goals….so I did (spoke about it in my podcast).  Since then, I’ve achieved more than 70 of those goals, pushing me to the brink of a new list.  When you throw goals on the paper and commit to action, those goals will be achieved, unconsciously.  That’s what happened one afternoon while glancing over the page.  I realized I achieved 10 of those goals a year after writing them down and I didn’t even know it.

Napoleon Hill’s Way of Setting Goals

“(a) Write down your goal. You will then begin to crystallize your thinking. The very act of thinking as you write will have a tendency to create an indelible impression in your memory.

(b) Give yourself a deadline. Specify a time for achieving your objective. This is important in motivating you: set out in the direction of your goal and keep moving toward it.

(c) Set your standards high. Now there seems to be a direct relationship between ease in achieving a goal and the strength of your motives. You have discovered for yourself in Chapter Nine how to motivate yourself at will and in Chapter Ten how to motivate others.”

And the higher you set your major goal, generally speaking, the more concentrated will be the effort you make to achieve it. The reason: logic will make it mandatory that you at least aim at an intermediate objective as well as an immediate one. So aim higher. And then have immediate and intermediate steps leading toward its achievement.

The following question should stimulate your thinking: Where will you be and what will you be doing ten years from today if you keep doing what you are doing now?

(d) Aim high. It is a peculiar thing that no more effort is required to aim high in life, to demand prosperity and abundance, than is required to accept misery and poverty.”

The excuses such as “I had an idea but didn’t have money,” are a done-deal.  Let those excuses go….because the internet doesn’t care what your circumstances are, it just wants action.

Napoleon Hill: Cooperation – Introduction

As always, I love using Gary Vee to kick off the blogs because he has a way of doing things that’s very unorthodox.  He doesn’t have that “mastermind” group, as one asked him at a keynote speech.  He says he listens to the market and opinions of other people as his fundamental way of getting ideas out there.

On the other hand, you’ve heard of Harvey Firestone, Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison hanging out together on a wintry winter deep inside forests – exchanging ideas.

Everyone has their own way of doing things.

If I look back at my life, and what’s currently happening and ask myself: “Arsenio, do you have a mastermind group?”

“No.”

Sometimes I get off track with distractions.  If someone comes into my life, I get sidetracked if we’re not aligned with things and fall into a weird state of mind where I feel….depressed.

Who’s in my ear every morning? Well, if I need a jump, I listen to Eric Thomas, who’s an outstanding motivational speaker.  This comes when times are tough.  However, when I’m on fire and need to get things done, I go straight into Gary Vee’s podcast or YouTube video.  This gives me a lot of ideas and puts me in such a positive state of mind.  I surround myself with figures all around the planet whom don’t even know they’re part of my mastermind group.  Who says it has to be physical?

In Napoleon Hill’s Book, Co-operation is the beginning of all organized effort.  Remember what I talked about in the first lesson of this course in terms of Andrew Carnegie accumulating a gigantic fortune through organized efforts.  Gary Vee also talks about being in that community of people, which I’ve met a lot of on his page.  I have a handful of awesome entrepreneurs in my Facebook area because of that community on his page.

First, the co-operation between people who group themselves together or form alliances for the purpose of attaining a given end, under the principles known as the Law of the Master Mind.

Second, the co-operation between the conscious and the sub-conscious minds, which forms a reasonable hypothesis of man’s ability to contact, communicate with and draw upon something greater.

Before we get into the basis of this lesson, there was something that struck me while reading a particular page of this lesson.

“If I can impress my subconscious mind with the desire to arise at a specified time and it will awaken me at that time, why do I not form the habit of impressing it with other and more important desires?”

Pretty interesting theory, ey? This is basically saying if you feed your mind over and over the information you want at any given time, you will win.

Napoleon Hill: Lawrence Massacre + Ending of Self-Control.

If and when an angry person starts in to vilify and abuse you, justly or unjustly, it’s your reaction and the retaliation in a like manner where you will either be drawn down to that person’s mental level, or rise above it.  If you do fall down to their level, that means that person is dominating you.

On the other hand, if you just refuse to become angry and have that self-composure needed to keep you calm, you will take the other person by surprise.  Retaliating with a weapon that the other person is unfamiliar with will catch them off guard and easily dominate them.

Look at the majority of salespeople around the planet.  When an angry customer comes in hailing and flailing expletives and adjectives of all kinds, are they going to retaliate in the same manner? Absolutely not.  When the outburst subsides, the person who was using vilification will feel like a……douche.

Always remember, like attracts like! There’s no denying this.

Lawrence Massacre Story On Podcast

Summary of Self-Control

We’ve learned that our thoughts and actions towards others resemble an electric magnet which attracts to us the same sort of thought and the same sort of action that we, ourselves, create.

We have learned that the human mind responds in kind, to whatever thought impressions it receives.  We have learned that kindness begets kindness and unkindness and injustice beget unkindness and injustice.

Easy, huh?

Everything we put out comes back in a much larger measure.  We have learned that the human mind responds in kind, to all sensory impressions it receives.

Now it’s time to go into lesson seven which is an extremely critical one – Habit of Doing More Than Paid For.

Chief Factors Which Enter Into The Development of An Attractive Personality

First: Form the habit of interesting yourself in other people; and make it your business to find their good qualities and speak of them in terms of praise.

Second: Develop the ability to speak with force and conviction, both in your ordinary conversational tones and before public gatherings, where you must use more volume.

Third: Clothes yourself in a style that is becoming to your physical build and the work in which you are engaged.

Fourth: Develop a positive character, through the aid of the formula outlined in this lesson.

Fifth: Learn how to shake hands so that you express warmth of feeling and enthusiasm through this form of greeting.

Sixth: Attract the people to you by first :attracting yourself” to them.

Seventh: Remember that your only limitation, within reason, is the one which YOU set up in YOUR OWN mind.

  • If you will cultivate those finer thoughts, and feelings, and actions, out of which a positive character is built, and then learn to express yourself with force and conviction, you will have developed an attractive personality.
  • There is a great power of attraction back of the person who has a positive character, and this power expresses itself through unseen as well as visible sources.
  • Every “shady” transaction in which you engage, every negative thought that you think, and every destructive act in which you indulge, destroys just so much of that “subtle something” within you that is known as character.

For example, I do my banking here in Thailand with KTB, not because it’s the closest, but because the tellers, cashiers, and even people working the door are unbelievably charismatic.

I always eat pizza at a restaurant called wine connection, not only because the pizza is delicious, but because the waiters and waitresses are amazing with service.

The people who I engage with throughout my daily life I’m attracted to because their personalities, character, and charisma is rare.

Napoleon Hill – Imagination: Part 2

“If your imagination is the mirror of your soul, then you have a perfect right to stand before that mirror and see yourself as you wish to be.  You have the right to see reflected in that magic mirror the mansion you intend to own, the factory you intend to manage, the bank of which you intend to be president, the station in life you intend to occupy.  Your imagination belongs to you! Use it! The more you use it the more efficiently it will serve you.” – Napoleon Hill

A man of imagination went to a city long ago to make money out of real estate.  He got an option on a couple of hills that were unsuitable for real estate due to the steepness of them.  He also had another option on the ground that was unsuitable for use because of the back-water that covered it daily.  So, in the end, he secured both of the options for super cheap because the literal mind thought both didn’t have any substantial value.

However, with a few tons of explosives, he turned those steep hills into loose dirt.  With the aid of some tractors and road scrapers, he used the ground for beautiful building lots.  Also, with the help of cattle and livestock, he dumped the surplus of dirt on the low ground and raised it above the water level, thereby turning it into beautiful building lots.

He made a substantial fortune, for what?

For removing some dirt from where it was not needed to where it was needed! For mixing some useless dirt with imagination.

Another story would be a man purchasing land on top of a hill.  This man was dirt cheap and the owner of the land was selling it for little-to-nothing, just because the imagination with the man selling it wasn’t there.  So, this man, who barely had any money to his name, purchased that piece of land and built a log cabin that became very profitable because the view of both sides of the mountain.  Later, it turned into a half dozen.  Then, he built a minimart and a few other things to accompany it.  That man amassed a FORTUNE over just pennies by using his imagination.

If you properly use your imagination it will help you convert your failures and mistakes into assets of priceless value; it will lead you to discovery of a truth known only to those who use their imagination; namely, that the greatest reverses and misfortunes of life often open the door to golden opportunities.

You will never know what is your capacity for achievement until you learn how to mix your efforts with imagination.  The products of your hands, minus imagination, will yield you but a small return, but those selfsame hands, when properly guided by imagination, can be made to earn you all the material wealth you can use.

Conditioning The Mind

“The mind doesn’t know anything about age, your subconscious mind knows nothing about time and space.  And so, I am hanging around young people all the time and I operate like they do.  I don’t think of myself as being old.” – Bob Proctor

That’s how powerful the mind is.  I want you think way back when people had to take ships from one continent to another.  The Berlin Olympics was a prime example of how far the athlete had to go physically to obtain rewards.  Now, or just in the last couple of decades, the Concorde was developed, which was an aircraft that can get from New York to London in three hours.  The mind created that.  You can go so far to say, “oh, well academics created that.” Well, we created academics.  What was before schooling?

Let’s think about conditioning the mind.  If you say, “I’m getting fatter, shorter, older, uglier.” You feel all of those feelings that relate to those comparative adjectives, right? Feeling of depression, stress, sadness – you name it.

Conversely, if you say the opposite and think the opposite by reaffirming positive thoughts, you will believe it.  You will believe anything you feed your subconscious mind.

I told myself that I was “black” my entire life because society labeled me that way.  Coming over here to Thailand, where labelling is taken to the extreme, I started to feel 10x worse here than I did in America until I did away with the societal perception.

I can go back to when I first watched the secret in 2007 and tell you that I started to believe that I can control my life.  Yes, I can control what was going on outside of me.  When the experimental stages were ongoing, I realized that I can save money, go on trips, see beautiful countries and stop using my childhood blueprint of “not having enough” as an excuse.

A lot of people would say, “what about the poor people in Africa? Bangladesh? Parts of Southeast Asia? What about those paces.”  Well, when you’re born into poverty, you don’t know what life is outside of it.  You’re born into the “not-enoughedness.” You don’t have the resources (not educationally speaking, either), to escape that lifestyle because you don’t know anything beyond those barriers.”

Look at the Southside of Chicago, for instance.  This is a place of desolation and hooliganism, killing each other nightly. Where at? AMERICA! African American children not knowing the difference between right and wrong.  Why? Their minds were conditioned at the very beginning when they were born into those impoverished neighborhoods.  Mom & dad were out participating in the worst of activities while they were getting bullied at school until that one day….someone came to rescue.  Someone who is/was gang affiliated.  There’s no other reality.  The outlook is as drab as it gets….but how come Serena & Venus Williams were born in the heart of Compton whereas they had to jump on the Tennis courts, ducking bullets that were being shot by rival gangs?

It’s all about conditioning the mind.

Lisa Nichols – The Law of Attraction

In Lisa Nichols ‘Abundance Now’ book, she states that when the secret took off in 2006, it was later translated into 50 languages and sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

Lots of people, especially religious folks, think other wise about the movie “the secret” in terms of it being real or not.  However, regardless if you believe it’s true or not, we’re all vibrational beings.

Have you ever thought about that specific person then ended up getting a call from them? How about waking up in the middle of the night with a bad feeling about someone, it ultimately leading to a phone call whereas something happened to that person.

Napoleon Hill talks so much about it in his book that was written the first time 89 years ago (The Law of Success).  We attract what we think about most.

“The Law of Attraction says: What you think about, talk about, believe strongly about, and feel intensely about, you will bring about.  Your life is a physical manifestation of your thoughts and your energy. You shape your life experience in your mind first by what you think, then in your mouth by what you say, and finally in your actions by what you follow through on. Your life experience doesn’t just pop up. It takes shape in your mind first.” – Lisa Nichols

Take a long read or look at your life, everything that is happening presently is because your past thoughts, words, and actions.

These past four days have been very tumultuous for me.  From a girl spouting at me “ewwww black men are dirty,” to a failed wire transfer from an inexperienced teller at the bank, to a famous restaurant taking 30 minutes + to serve my food which they still didn’t even do.  All that came about because of me conversing with people who aren’t part of the OQP (only quality people) club, me being anxious about not getting my money into my American account, and also knowing that this particular restaurant has appalling service.

Once you take 100% responsibility for it all, it’s life transforming.
