Sexual Mask: Part IV – What Can You Do Now?

Lewis Howes talked in his book about being raped when he was 5 years old.  There was another instance when he was on the football team where at 3:30 in the morning, he woke up to find his pants half-way down and a girl trying to have sex with him.

Through the eyes of most men reading this – you might thing or might have thought that’s a dream come true.  See, every woman is warned about these near-rape experienced, and men completely shrug off the fact that it can happen to them.

There was one morning during the 2006 Worldcup when I was walking to my friend Kristine’s house.  A man pulled up beside me, said hello and told me to “hop in.”  I thought it was Mr. Nadelson by quick glance, and I even said his name out loud.  However, when I got in the car, I knew it wasn’t him.  He started asking me if he could see my feet and asked me if I wanted to make a little money.  I told him to pull-over and I got out the car quickly, not telling anyone about the experience for about three years.  Now the world knows.

Another instance was on a sunny afternoon.  I was much smarter at this point versus being an 18-years-old, naive youngster.  It had to be between 2009-2011; sometime before I went to Australia on a working holiday visa.  Keep in ming that I live in a predominantly African American neighborhood, people.  A car pulled up beside me – a nice one – and a man asked me where “Big 5” was.  It was odd because I’m asking myself, “no offence, but what’s an Anglo male doing in a neighborhood like this asking about a store that’s more than 10-20 miles away?”  He was rubbing his shades, had a belly, and looked very odd.  He then asked if I needed a ride home, and of course, my home being just on the other side of the wall, I smiled and declined.  Did I report him? No…I should have, because I’m a little bit ashamed to have let a pedaphile getaway like that.

Situations like these, man or woman, need to be talked about.  Only a handful of people in my life know about these two situations, and now I’m able to tell everyone because it could help someone in a country that doesn’t have a system in terms of sex offenders like the United States.

Most men, too, are scared of telling these stories because they fear of having something derogatory said about them.

What Can You Do Right Now?

“Sex is the perfect way to avoid emotions. It feels close and intimate, but sex allows a man struggling behind his Sexual Mask to compartmentalize those emotions and focus only on the physical aspects of sex. The problem with a singular focus on the physical part of sex is that it will never be enough.”

Excerpt From: Lewis Howes. “The Mask of Masculinity.” iBooks.

Absolutely right.  If you have sex, especially within the first week, there’s nothing else to look forward to.  Have you men, who are reading this, ever felt this before? Like before you have sex, there should be a build-up.  The sexual desire and the increased arousal is what it’s all about.  “The process.”  If you do it the first couple of nights, there’s nothing else to look forward to, right?

A man trapped behind this mask is always on the verge for looking for the newest conquest.  The next girl in line.  I see tons of men suffering from this in Thailand.  There’s one teacher I used to work for who was heading home to his girlfriend one day, came across me, and started showing me photos of women who he’s been sleeping with.  It’s terrifying.

What’s Available?

Inner peace
Worthiness
Fulfilling intimate relationships
Feeling grounded
True partnership”

Figure out what you are avoiding. Is it responsibility? Self-worth? Intimacy, connection, pain, joy, or satisfaction? Are you dealing with a huge void or an overabundance of something you don’t know how to handle? Make a list of those things you might be avoiding, and then create an action plan and the next steps you are committed to creating, and by when.

For example: I’ve been avoiding having a conversation with my girlfriend, and I’m going to call her tomorrow . . . whatever it is, write it down.
And really be honest with yourself about whether retreating behind this Sexual Mask has improved your life.

The key to figuring all this out is learning how to be alone. How to love yourself. You need to be in a relationship with yourself first. When you’re looking for love and validation from the outside, you inevitably lose yourself and the ability to cultivate self-love because nothing inside you seems as valuable as what you get from someone else. You’ll never get enough from the outside to fill the void created on the inside, and so you must learn how to be happy by, and with, yourself.” – Lewis Howes

Napoleon Hill: Lesson 11 – Concentration

Let us first device the word concentration:

“Concentration is the act of focusing the mind upon a given desire until ways and means for its realization have worked out and successfully put into operation.”

There are two important laws that coordinate with the act of concentrating the mind on an objective: auto-suggestion and the law of habit.

What is habit? I’ve preached this so many times and you guys have to really understand what it is to have it work to your advantage.  For example, just two days ago I fell completely out of sync with my purpose in life, feeling absolutely miserable.  However, there was a post that ignited that fire within me just yesterday and this morning, at 6:20am, I’ve accomplished more in the past hour than most people have done in a day – out of habit!

Habit can grow out of the environment – doing the same thing you do over and over and over again.  If you look at people who are poor, people who are rich; people who are in line with goals and people who aren’t….it’s all predicated on habit.  Repetition – out of thinking the same thoughts and doing the same things over and over.  It kind of resembles a cement block that has hardened in the mood.

“Except on rare occasions when the mind rises above environment, the human mind draws the material out of which thought is created, from the surrounding environment, and habit crystallizes this though into a permanent fixture and stores it away in the subconscious mind where it becomes a vital part of our personality which silently influences our actions, forms our prejudices and our biases, and controls out opinions.” – Dale Carnegie

So frankly put, environment very large supplies the food and materials out of which we create thought.

You want to know how to can create good habits right now? How to use all of what I’m telling you to your advantage? Well, I’ll be jotting down an excerpt from Napoleon Hill’s book and also will include a PDF at the bottom of the page so you can read this over twice a day.  Be sure to print it and hang it anywhere in your home….a place where you’re going to see it and read it everyday.

First: At the beginning of the formation of a new habit put force and enthusiasm into expression.  Feel what you think.  Remember that you are taking the first steps toward making the new mental path; that it is much harder at first than it will be afterwards.  Make the path as clear and as deep as you can, at the beginning, so that you can readily see it the next time you wish to follow it.

Second: Keep your attention firmly concentrated on the new path-building, and keep your mind away from the old paths, lest you incline toward them.  Forget all about the old paths, and concern y ourself with the new ones that you are building to order.

Third: Travel over your newly made paths as often as possible.  Make opportunities for doing iso, without waiting for them to arise through luck or chance.  The oftener you go over the new paths the sooner will the become well worn and easily traveled.  Create plans for passing over these new habit-paths, at the very start.

Fourth: Resist the temptation to travel over the older, easier paths that you have been using in the past.  Every time you resist the temptation, the strong do you become, and the easier will it be for you to do so the next time.  But overtime you yield to the temptation, the easier does it become to yield again, and the more difficult it becomes to resist the next time.  You will have a fight on at the start, and this is the critical time.  Prove your determination, persistency and will-power now at the very beginning.

Fifth: Be sure that you have mapped out the right path, as your definite chief aim, and then go ahead without fear and without allowing yourself to doubt. “Place your hand upon the plow, and look not backward.” Select your goal, then make good, deep, wide mental paths leading straight to it.

Summary of Principles Involved In Accurate Thinking

So, to break down this entire chapter of accurate thinking, we now know that the body is not singular, but plural – that it consists of billions on top of billions of living, intelligent, individual cells.  With organised work, they’re able to maintain this spectacular being called the human body.

These cells have their respective outings such as the actions of the subconscious mind or automatic action of the mind; and the subconscious section of the mind controlled and directed by the conscious.

In other words, the habits, actions, and involuntary affirmations done over time becomes imbedded into our subconscious.

The Value of Adopting A Chief-Aim

These lessons and podcasts on Accurate Thought not only describes the real purpose of a definite chief aim, but it explains in simple terms the principles on how it could be realized. Create that objectives first…the one which you’re striving for.  Outline, in great detail, all the objectives on a piece of paper and create a definite statement of it in the nature of a definite chief aim. By referencing it everyday, you will hand it over to the subconscious mind – which will ultimately transform the desire into material form. Podcasts down below in following your definite chief-aim.

Instructions For Applying Your Definite Chief-Aim

Desire

You need to build upon a deeply seat, strong desire for the object of your chief-aim.  Do not “wish,” because “wish” is a future conditional indicating that it’s in the future and you’ll never possess it.  Having a strong desire of achievement is far more powerful because you’re devoting all your energy into the universe into the attainment of that objective.

Suggestion & Auto-Suggestion

The impressions that are in one’s environment dictates what the paradigm/subconscious is.  It could be statements, facts, T.V., parents, news, friends…..suggestions are given continuously all day, every day.  These influences have control over us.  It’s entirely up to YOU to control what suggestions/auto-suggestions you want to accept.  Be very wary of who you’re around and especially the environment you’re in because it cultivates that mental faculty, regardless if you like it or not.

Napoleon Hill’s Accurate Thought: Part III

The man who knows that he is working with facts goes at his task with a feeling of self-confidence which enables him to refrain from hesitating or waiting to make sure of his ground.  He already knows what his efforts will be.

Also, the man who has learned of the advantages of searching for facts as the foundation of his thinking will go a long way toward the development of one of the most important facets of humanity: accurate thought. On top of that, a man who can separate facts from important and unimportant will go even further.

For instance, John D. Rockefeller was a man who created a habit of dealing only with relevant facts that pertained to his life-work.  When he was young, he was a very poor young men.  However, at that same time, he adopted the definite chief aim of accumulating great wealth.  A lot of people would say that Rockefeller was not always fair with his competitors – which may or may not be true.  On there other hand, no one ever accused him of “snap-judgements” or underestimating the strength of his competitors.  He not only recognised facts that affected his business, wherever or whenever he found them, but he made it his business to search for them until he found them.

Thomas A. Edison was another man who attained greatness through the classification and relevance of facts.  “Mr. Edison worked with natural laws as his chief aids; therefore, he must be sure of his facts before he can harness those laws.” – Napoleon Hill.

Every time you hear a phonograph, remember that Edison is the man that made it happen, through his persistent habit of dealing with relevant facts.  Every time you see a moving picture, know that it was him.

The exact opposite of this would mean you focusing on mere information that you cannot control.  Not being able to separate importance with unimportance will cloud your vision completely.

If you haven’t already seen the important of creating a definite chief aim as the object of your lifework, you will undoubtedly do so by going all the way to the blog at the very beginning of this book or by listening to this podcast down below.

Podcast

The subconscious mind has one outstanding characteristic to which I will now direct your attention; namely it records the suggestions which you send it through Auto-suggestion, and it invokes the aid of infinite intelligence in translating these suggestions into their natural physical form, through natural means which are in no way out of the ordinary.

The subconscious mind accepts all suggestions, whether they are constructive or destructive.  The subconscious mind may be likened to the sensitive plate of a camera which the picture of any object placed before the camera will be recorded.  The plate of the camera does not choose the sort of picture to be recorded on it, it records anything which reaches it through the lens.

Would You Take A Million Dollars For What You Have?

There was a man a long time ago who was walking in his loathe; completely destroyed and disinterested in life because his family-owned shop completely failed.  He was on his way to the bank to see if he can acquire some money so that he can move to another city to find a “job” until something happened in the middle of the street that changed his life forever.

Back in 1934 there weren’t wheelchairs like there are today.  This man, who had no legs, was trying to make his way across the street with slabs of wood on each side of his body.  Suddenly, both the loather and the wheelchair man locked eyes and the disabled man said, “well, how you doing today, sir? Fine day, isn’t it?”

As this man, who went by the name of Harold Abbott, stood there looking at this man…he realized how rich he was.  He had two legs and he could walk.  He felt ashamed and self-pity.  Later, he made an oath to himself that he would be happy, cheerful, and confident.  Ultimately he went to the bank and doubled up on the money he originally wanted to ask – getting the money in full.  He then moved away and got the job….all because of that incident.

He wrote on the mirror of his home, “I had the blues because I had no shoes. Until upon the street, I met a man who had no feet.”

Why don’t you stop right now and ask yourself: “What in the hell am I worrying about?” In life, about 90% of the things are right and 10% is wrong.  Instead of making that 10% wrong seem like 90%, how about focusing on the 90% that is right?

There are people on the planet today searching for a meal everyday, but you…yes, YOU, have the luxury of reading this particular blog.  This particular sentence.  That’s a luxury in it’s own.  Have you eaten today? Do you have family and reliable friends? Do you have arms, legs, and feet? Then what the hell are you complaining about?

How Your Enthusiasm Will Affect Others – Part 1

I first need to tell you a bit about auto-suggestion and how it works (from Lesson Two).

Suggestions is a principle through which your words and your acts and even your state of mind influences others.

Your words can influence someone in a positive or negative way, right?

The way you act can also influence an individual.  For instance, look at the sports world where a simple catch, made basket, pitch, and hit can send millions into a euphoric state of mind.

Moving forward….when your mind is vibrating at a high rate, because it has been stimulated by enthusiasm, that vibration registers in the minds of all within its radius, and especially in the minds of those with whom you come in close contact with.  When a public speaker “senses” the feeling that his audience is “en rapport” with him, he merely recognises the fact that his own enthusiasm has influences the minds of his listeners until their minds are vibrating in harmony with his own.  Look at some of the greatest speakers in human history such as Winston, Martin, even Tony Robbins.  They can move an audience, get a rousing ovation, make them cry, and even force them to do things.

Lets shift focus to salesmanship.  When a salesman “sense” the fact that the “psychological moment for closing a sale has arrived, he feels the effect of his own enthusiasm as it influences the mind of his prospective buyer and places that mind (in harmony) with his own.

When you’re enthusiastic over the goods you are selling or the services you are offering, or the speech you’re delivering, your state of mind becomes obvious to all who hear you, by the tone of your voice.  It’s the tone which you make the statement that’s important more than the statement itself.  Another prime example of that is Ray Lewis.  People have said that he can get an audience amp’d up by preaching about Cheerios.  Literally.

No mere combination of words can ever take the place of a deep belief in a statement that is expressed with burning enthusiasm.

So, what you say, and the way you say it conveys a meaning that may be the opposite to what is intended.  This accounts for a lot of failures by salesman who presents his arguments in words which seem logical enough, but lack the colouring that can come only from enthusiasm.

Lisa Nichols – Leave The Legacy

“How will you live every day, and how will you impact people for the better—improving the world for others who’ll (hopefully) take up your work when you are compelled to pass the torch?” – Lisa Nichols

If you look at some of the most iconic figures in the 20th century in America, to the late 20th century in South Africa.  Those who made an unbelievable sacrifice to better the lives for the next generations to come.

On the other hand, our individual accolades is all we can control.  First, we have to be the difference we want to see in the world.  It’s kind of like the colleague that complains endlessly about everything but doesn’t provide any solutions.  The “circle of influence” is all we can control.  If we start taking those micro win steps that ultimately lead to small goals, which then leads to the macro win goals….it will give us long-term momentum to the point we want to achieve goals ALL THE TIME because of the feeling.

I love using the reference about the two school students at an International School who provided a small village in Cambodia clean water, food, and a school to learn English. These two unique individuals have made a loud entrance to creating a legacy, and they will continue supporting and improving the lives of others who seemingly can’t create anything given their situations.

“What does it mean to live your legacy? It requires amassing financial wealth, of course. But it also suggests that you should fill your life with a passionate career, rewarding experiences, nurturing relationships, supportive friendships, a beautiful home where you and family can renew and restore, hobbies and shared opportunities that bring you together with evolved and aware people, philanthropies and charities that you establish or support, traditions that you start—the sum total of a rich and rewarding lifestyle that you enjoy and that provides countless opportunities to bring others along with you.

When you complete this life, how will people view the mission, the activities, and the connections that you pursued? How will those you’ve carried along with you use these assets after you are gone to further your work and adopt your dreams as their own?

Have you ever thought about it?

What, if anything, is holding you back from doing so?” – Lisa Nichols
