Special Blog: Arsenio’s Entrepreneurial Journey from 2016-Now

Ok, you guys wanted it, and here it is.

At the beginning of 2016, I started a podcast.  Keep in mind that my followers on Twitter were LOSER sex tourists and my online persona, up to that point, was not very good.  I constantly focused on the negative and the victimization of being a “black” teacher in Thailand.

Then came the man — also known as Napoleon Hill.  Who’s Napoleon Hill? Well, you’ll have to google him, but this man ended up teaching me everything that I either had lost, or was completely unaware of.  Those books became my podcasts in the beginning and that ended up pushing away the majority of those “losers” who followed me online.

Then came the Jack Canfield book, most notably — Principle #5: Believe In Yourself.  While reading this just before my trip to Vietnam, I was reduced to tears.  At that moment, there was a shift in my entire biochemistry, indicating that this victimhood no longer serves you.  Getting rid of it didn’t happen overnight, but this was the beginning.

Lisa Nichols’ Abundance now came next, along with a few others, including Tim Ferriss’ 4-Hour Work Week and a couple of others.  This was the beginning of the new me.

In 2017, I began to rebel.  Hell, it started a couple months before.  My work, which wasn’t suitable for me anymore, wasn’t fair in terms of work allocation.  Some teachers got more work based on pre-conceived notions that they were better than other teachers.  So, I told myself, even in early 2016, that I would start working outside to gain more notoriety and build a brand that I didn’t know I was building at the time.  One after another, projects after projects, and “NO! I DON’T WANT YOUR CLASS IN THE MORNING!” — after another.  This probably was my downfall at the company because I constantly denied work from them, leading to my ultimate plunge and being the “last in line” and the “dark little brother,” however, this was the beginning of my new life.

In October of 2017, I got removed from teaching at Toshiba in Pathumthani, citing me for the most outrageous comments imaginable that were completely untrue and irrelevant to my moving.  Somebody had a bone to pick, and with two other white teachers, one having an insane amount of complaints, I was the odd one out (in a very unprofessional way).  That following weekend, it was the comment “if you want to continue working here we need to have a meeting” that sent shivers of disgust, threats, and “Arsenio, it’s time to get the hell out of here” down my back.  That moment, I made up in my mind that I was too good for these folks.

No one knew, but after learning that I had moved to the other side of town, they knew what was happening.  I cancelled, didn’t want class, and want to be away from that place as much as possible because it gave me chest pains — literally.

At the same time, I was grinding and trying to find work.  There were people saying “oh, this company decided this teacher over you because you’re white” and other deplorable comments. I knew I would scrape the bottom-of-the-barrel in regards to finding suitable language centers, but i kept at it.

Then March came.  Job offers came over the next two months along with entrepreneurs, a content writer, and hundreds of other things.

At the beginning of the year, I made goals list.  I made goals list for each category of my wheel of life, pin-pointing things that I wanted to do and how I wanted to grow.  To this date, I’ve not only achieved those marks, but I think in some categories, like the social circle and personal development, I’m two years ahead.

I have a content writer, social circle consisting of graphic designers, mentors, marketing execs and coaches, double podcasts website that’s sky-rocketing, YouTube that’s climbing, messages and comments saying thank you.

In all of that, do you think this could’ve happened if I didn’t leave that old place of work? No way.  I needed to leave there to create flow of goodness and change in my life.

See, the majority of the time, you guys get stuffed up in the now and personal wants.  You’re control by the mainstream media, dying relationships, loser friends, terrible jobs.  However, if you can just come to the awareness that if you let these things go, you will attract to you everything in life that you need to take you to the next level.

That’s a promise.

Upon the magnificent New Years, I’m literally positioning myself as the top ESL podcaster on the planet.  I’m owning hashtags on Instagram.  I’m teaching people all over the world and people want my services.  See how that works? And this all came because I dumped an employer in F.E.A.R of not getting a new job.

Face FEAR.

Face What Isn’t Working: Part II – Graphic Designer Woes

I love doing these redo’s as a way of showing you guys how to deal with scoundrels.

So, as I’ve mentioned in a few podcasts before, I’ve had problems/issues with this specific individual in the past.  What’s even more head-scratching is that I used to work with her.  Yes.  Everyday I used to see her, and she was very snappy at the beginning.  She would have a condescending tone to her voice and she was pretty rude at times.  Nonetheless, I was looking at taking my business to the next level so I used her.  What should’ve been three weeks quickly turned into four months.  At one time, I even blocked her because I thought she was just lying continuously.

However, three weeks ago she mentioned again that she was almost done with a PDF that had taken more than 4 months to do.  ALMOST = key word.

Finally, after another two weeks and just yesterday, she said “your PDF is done now.  Can I receive the payment first?”  Now, with all do respect, I’ll send the payment, but it’s also a general principle to give what’s the clients to him.  Simple procedure and doesn’t take a mad scientist to complete such a process.

I sent the payment of $225 dollars to her and she was gone for twelve hours.  No reading of my messages and no responses.  I then messaged her with a stern tone, “ummmm excuse me, could I please have my PDF and everything that was agreed upon?”

Her being a snappy human being said, “oh, a little patience would be nice. What I did for you people normally have to pay upfront.”

“Yes.  Understand that.  However, payments are through and everything is done.  I just want what’s mine.”

What scared me a bit was that I had to send the payment to a dutch name in New Zealand’s account.  That’s scary as hell, given the fact that the first payment was sent to her account and the second was sent to an account overseas.  That’s just NOT good.

So I woke up this morning feeling a bit anxious.  Do I know where she is? Yes, at the shit house where I used to work. So given the fact how nasty she is, she knows that I would never go there to try and collect my belongings.

Anywho, the responses came in and she began to blah blah blah.  So, this is a really good sign because I’m more than likely going to get my business cards and PDF at all costs.

On the other hand, what was learned? How can I help you, the reader, understand this process?

  1. NEVER WORK WITH SNAPPY INDIVIDUALS. If you see that someone is very rude, condescending, and just nasty in general…..cut your losses and find someone else.
  2. Written contracts are a must!  She mentioned it in the beginning but it never followed through, unfortunately.  Now, if I had made that payment and she ran away, I would be out of money and everything.
  3. Outline the time-frame of your work.  Four months to complete jobs that can be done in a week is absurd.  Her answers, or maybe other people’s answers were/will be, “oh, I was busy. I had to push your work back.  Sorry.”  Those are all unacceptable.  In the contract should be “if the creator fails to deliver the work on the date, all work will be forfeited.”  You need to have a legitimate timeline, or else they will constantly shove your work aside.
  4. Intuition! I knew she was a rude girl from the beginning.  She said things that were very ignorant at times and made me question her ability.  If you take a look at my logos, although they’re somewhat nice (and I’m grateful for it), it’s not a $450 dollar job and it came with too much baggage.
  5. Be assertive and address the problem from the beginning. The moment they say they can’t get it done in the given timeframe, be very frank and tell them, “look, either you’re going to do this on this timeframe or I’m forfeiting the entire project.”

Career Goals For 2018

Well, this is the big one! I mean there’s Tedx, working for companies (on my own contracts), there’s the podcast, Herbalife, YouTube, selling things on my website, business cards, meetings, presentations.  Omg! I mean I really need to thing and plan this one out thoroughly.

Podcast

One of the biggest goals of course for this year is building a bigger audience. Stagnation does happen from time-to-time.  Has my podcast been on the incline? Absolutely YES.  I mean in 2016, I would be excited if I get 1-5 plays in one day.  Now that I’ve enabled downloading on my podcast, everything has taken off.  There are third-party websites picking up my podcast.  I’m on iHeartRadio and Stitcher along with dozens of others.  I bought a year-long subscription on SoundCloud to reach out to people on there and it’s all going very well.  The next big step is obviously Spotify.

I definitely need MORE INTERVIEWS! Since I’ve already established a schedule, there’s a one day void on Monday and I would love to do four interviews a month.  I have two prospectives at the moment.  One person, who I was suppose to do a podcast interview last week until technical difficulties, has gone completely silent.  Perhaps he was frustrated with the entire ordeal – and he had a reason to be. LOL. It happens.

Collaborations are extremely important.  Having people put me on their podcast and provide a link…or even attaching the link to a blog is very important.  Example, there was one particular “hollywood” personality who I got in touch with and I think she was all up for the podcast on my end; however, she then asked for $995.  I laughed because she had just a hair over 1k followers.  Smh.

YouTube

My students, at the company that recently expunged me (I love saying this – lol), looked my educational videos up on YouTube back in October.  When they did this, I realized my plays went from 2k to 3k in a months span.  Since then. My videos are at 4.6k.  I’ve looked at the geographical location and it points basically everywhere: Indonesia, Brazil, Antigua, France, Reunion, South Korea, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Switzerland.  You name it.  I couldn’t believe it because I hadn’t made an educational video in the past two years! So, I decided to make a ton of videos and I make sure content is being distributed rapidly.  I now have my graphic designer working on a new banner and a few other things.

Herbalife

I’m not one of those people that like shoving products or anything down others’ faces.  I did this probably a few years ago in trying to convince some of my friends that they should try Herbalife…and it never worked.  After that, I just didn’t care anymore.  If I could just live it, people will come.  Since then, lots of people, including co-workers and students, have asked me about the products.  No, I haven’t gone up the ranks since 2013, but I do want to take the great leap sometime in the last quarter of this year and start set up a new stream of income.

Book

Grrrrr this is the one! I was thinking of having a ghostwriter do it for me, but no one knows the story of what I went through here in Thailand more than I! I mean I have to tell it very vividly and descriptively.  I wish I had documented everything when it occurred, but I didn’t.  I just recently watched a TedX about a girl saying, “staying silent is the worse thing you can do.”  Well, I need to speak up about the experiences I’ve had in this country once and for all.  Just doing it is the catch…but if I can just brainstorm a couple of pages in the morning and make it my number one priority for the year = BINGO!

Website

The website is going to come into fruition over the next few months (before my anticipatory leave to South America), and on there will be lots of PDF’s templates and other things for my students all around the world to buy and stuff.  Luckily I have a graphic designer that’s doing amazing work at the moment; and what’s even more is I have the savings to pay for it all.  Very ecstatic and grateful for it.  Now, when this website launches, this WordPress site is going to be switched over there.  WordPress hasn’t provided me with much of anything except traffic.  Even the payment button is faulty.  If I want to sell things and plugins, I have to pay an additional 150$, which isn’t even worth it (sorry, WordPress); so I’m going to have a brilliant graphic designer build my website from scratch.  WOOHOO!

Napoleon Hill: Cooperation – Introduction

As always, I love using Gary Vee to kick off the blogs because he has a way of doing things that’s very unorthodox.  He doesn’t have that “mastermind” group, as one asked him at a keynote speech.  He says he listens to the market and opinions of other people as his fundamental way of getting ideas out there.

On the other hand, you’ve heard of Harvey Firestone, Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison hanging out together on a wintry winter deep inside forests – exchanging ideas.

Everyone has their own way of doing things.

If I look back at my life, and what’s currently happening and ask myself: “Arsenio, do you have a mastermind group?”

“No.”

Sometimes I get off track with distractions.  If someone comes into my life, I get sidetracked if we’re not aligned with things and fall into a weird state of mind where I feel….depressed.

Who’s in my ear every morning? Well, if I need a jump, I listen to Eric Thomas, who’s an outstanding motivational speaker.  This comes when times are tough.  However, when I’m on fire and need to get things done, I go straight into Gary Vee’s podcast or YouTube video.  This gives me a lot of ideas and puts me in such a positive state of mind.  I surround myself with figures all around the planet whom don’t even know they’re part of my mastermind group.  Who says it has to be physical?

In Napoleon Hill’s Book, Co-operation is the beginning of all organized effort.  Remember what I talked about in the first lesson of this course in terms of Andrew Carnegie accumulating a gigantic fortune through organized efforts.  Gary Vee also talks about being in that community of people, which I’ve met a lot of on his page.  I have a handful of awesome entrepreneurs in my Facebook area because of that community on his page.

First, the co-operation between people who group themselves together or form alliances for the purpose of attaining a given end, under the principles known as the Law of the Master Mind.

Second, the co-operation between the conscious and the sub-conscious minds, which forms a reasonable hypothesis of man’s ability to contact, communicate with and draw upon something greater.

Before we get into the basis of this lesson, there was something that struck me while reading a particular page of this lesson.

“If I can impress my subconscious mind with the desire to arise at a specified time and it will awaken me at that time, why do I not form the habit of impressing it with other and more important desires?”

Pretty interesting theory, ey? This is basically saying if you feed your mind over and over the information you want at any given time, you will win.
