Arsenio’s ESL Podcast: International Guest Speaker – Nathan of Kazakhstan!

Someone from an up and coming language center in Kazakhstan liked one of my posts.  When she did, I checked her Instagram out and saw that she was an entrepreneur in Astana, Kazakhstan.  I reached out to her and she referred her husband over.  Finally, here’s Nathan, an American born teacher who’s been living in Kazakhstan for more than 8 years already.  He provides a nice blend of what Kazakh was, their English language standards, and a few other things that will open your mind to potentially visiting the country.

Fun & Hobbies Goals For 2018

An implementation of “fun time” during the week is absolutely vital at this point.  I believe living in a slummy area (what I seriously deemed as a slummy area) in north Bangkok where the mindsets were extremely low…it took away from me meeting a lot of amazing people.  The monolithic perception of “blacks” being labeled as “bad” and the “wife tourists” being labels as “wonderful human beings” took so much of a toll on me.  The funny part about all of it was I was the one who decided to stay in this area from October 2014 – December 2017.

I took the “great leap” last September when I decided to join a gym — the Lab BKK.  What’s so special about this gym (and of course the price dug well into my pockets) the business-minded entrepreneurs who work out there.  The majority of everyone speaks solid English and it made me realize that Thai women are accepting of African American men.  However, if you trek about 10 minutes north of DMK Airport in north Bangkok, you can find yourself in an extremely racist society.

I’ve neglected my own self from being around these ultra-successful people.  I finally had reality slap me real hard in the face around the same time (September) when I decided to teach millionaires – all of which were over the age of 30, accepting of my color, and SO HAPPY with life!

This also stemmed from me telling my primary job that I wanted time by myself on a Sunday morning.  The rebellion began at the beginning of last year, and it ultimately lead to somewhat of a demise at a present job — followed by a rapid emergence all around Bangkok.

I traveled to America, Malaysia, and the Maldives, but it felt like I was doing more escaping rather than going on a holiday.  The last trip westward to Kanchanaburi (3 hours drive from Bangkok) was an epitome of ‘when things go wrong, go travel.’  However, when I was on this trip I just kept thinking about my well-being.  How one angry individual now possessed the power to do whatever he wanted or wants with me.

NEVER — and I’m saying NEVER — go on trips when you have baggage on the table in your physical environment at home, work, or anywhere else.  If you go on holiday and all you think about is what’s happening back home, you’ve spoiled the entire trip.  I believe that it happened a couple of times (in Arizona and Kanchanaburi) and I wasn’t able to be fully immersed in what was happening.

Being able to put “fun” in your schedule is vital.  My motto this year is “make the same amount of money but in a fraction of the time.”  Well, it’s soon going to start working! If I can somehow teach for two hours on a Saturday morning, it can total nine hours of teaching that I currently do on a Saturday and Sunday; dealing with the ignorance in the racially infested province, teachers gossiping about how wonderful I am (lol), and so many other factors.

Fun and hobbies can be anything ranging from working out with awesome people, going running, going for a movie by yourself, walking the dog, having a drink by yourself and chatting with passerbys, or anything.  I haven’t been able to enjoy that because there was NO WHERE in the area I can do that….but now, times have changed.

Ok, we have travels.

For Sures

  1. Indonesia
  2. Malaysia (possibly this month
  3. Kazakhstan + Kyrgyzstan

Potentials

  1. Australia (high chance)
  2. Hong Kong
  3. Taiwan
  4. Morocco (Tedx)

On-The-Ropes

  1. American Samoa
  2. Japan

So these are the trips.  Some revolve around the Spartan Race; others are real vacation.  But what about in Thailand?

  • Fit in relaxation (this could be with great people over amazing food)
  • Enjoy the scenery (don’t always be tugged away in my condo and go to the rooftop)
  • Meet new people (and especially not on Craigslist – LOL!!)
  • Ask for feedback (have more people listen to my podcast around Thailand and become well-known)

Swimming, playing basketball, running the streets, going to a park to do random pull-ups.  These things will come a long way.

Darren Hardy: Find Your Fight + Goals

So, my first podcast (which will be below the first part of this in terms of finding your fight) was uploaded yesterday.  I didn’t have time to attach the blog with it, and I also got a real time text message about a job denying me work and see how I reacted to it.  Great experience. Lol

And into “finding your fight.”

Now, Darren Hardy talked about using friction, anger and hate to press up against something you don’t like.  I strongly disagree, respectfully.  It’s like the people who asked Mother Teresa if she wanted to go to an Anti-_________ rally.  She never went, but when she said, “if you make a pro-peace rally, I’ll go.”

The more you press up against something you dislike or get back at someone, you’ll never feel accomplished and you’ll be bringing more of that.

Gary Vee mentioned that he does things to stick it back in other people’s faces.  Again, people have a way of doing it, but the antagonists, naysayers, and people that want to see you fail will continue dissecting every detail of you to find something else to complain about.  It will be a never-ending whirlwind of critcism you’re redirecting constantly over to yourself because you feel you have to do it to prove someone wrong.

I’m telling you now that they will continue to win.  Just remember, No One Ever Kicks A Dead Dog.

Goals

The compound effect, just like the Law of Attraction, is always working – whether you believe it or not.  You can use it for you, or against you.  Most successful people in the world have quiet time for meditation, other people say that meditation isn’t for them.  It’s all based on preference. However, if you can get to a deeper level of your core, you will find the treasure.  I have a particular friend who works at a bank who says she doesn’t know what she loves.  Well, try new things! “Well, my mother said I can’t.”

Now’s not the time to be rescue 911.  If she doesn’t start now, she’ll look back to now at the age of 70 saying, “I wish I had…..”

Don’t be that person.

Ask yourself: “what goals, dreams and destinations do I desire?”

Honestly, ask yourself that question.  If you’re not making progress in life, and shooting aimlessly, it’s because your goals aren’t clearly defined and you just simply don’t have a definite chief-aim in life.  How can you learn to effectively to set and achieve goals?

Was Australia on my bucket list back in 2009? No.  However, in 2005, it gave me a glimpse of what was to come when I did a convention with a friend involving lots of managers from Australia at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. That wasn’t a clearly defined goal, but rather an insight.

I always wanted to travel to Japan, Singapore, Bali and Maldives…when I put these onto my dreamboard, it happened.  It may not work for you, but it worked for me.

You only see, experience, and get what you look for. If you don’t know what to look for, you certainly won’t get it. By our very nature, we are goal-seeking creatures. Our brain is always trying to align our outer world with what we’re seeing and expecting in our inner world. So, when you instruct your brain to look for the things you want, you will begin to see them. In fact, the object of your desire has probably always existed around you, but your mind and eyes weren’t open to “seeing” it.
In reality, this is how the Law of Attraction really works. It is not the mysterious, esoteric voodoo it sometimes sounds like. It’s far simpler and more practical than that. – Darren Hardy

We are bombarded with visual, audio and physical things everyday.  Have you ever been thinking about that person and later get a phone call from them? How about that car you want? You start seeing the car a heck of a lot more, right? Is it realistic? Perhaps.  Maybe the cars were there all along and you just weren’t paying attention to it.

When you define your goals, you give your brain something new to look into and focus on. This is why our subconscious mind and feeding your mind with what you want one hour before you retire at night is imperative.  If you watch bad news, what shows up in your dreams? If you do work on that project, shop for that house, look for flights to Kazakhstan, and look at YouTube videos of travel in Morocco….your subconscious mind will work on it overnight.

The Ramble: Traveling Next Year, Podcast, GaryVee, My Own Medicine, Q’s & A’s.

I decided to create a podcast on what’s happening in the life of Arsenio Buck in Bangkok, Thailand.  Here’s a rundown of today’s topics in short and what’s been happening since my “Wheel of Life” podcast.

Traveling

I pre-booked some spots in my schedule for next years traveling because, of course, I need to have traveling + Spartan competitions, and traveling just for the sake of seeing wonderful countries.

Kazakhstan/Kyrgyzstan are both an 80% go at this point, unless withdrawals happen because my lack of depositing into a developing relationship.  Honestly, some of you are probably thinking now, “omg! Those countries? Why?” Well, I’ve always wanted to travel to Central Asia because I believe like Georgia and Azerbaijan, its the best kept secret.  I’ve seen how open-minded just about everyone is there just being online and how friendly they are and willing to meet.  My heart is telling me to go there; and on top of that, I have a brilliant friend who’s urging me to visit.  So, expect a April landfall, podcasts, and crazy blogs + videos coming up during that time.

Cairo, Egypt….yes, yes, YES! I went on a day trip when I was in the Maldives to one of the islands in proximity to Hulhumale, and on that boat trip on over…I locked eyes with a specimen.  A gorgeous specimen, but she gave me an unresponsive stare.  However, when we got to the island, she unwittingly grabbed my empty glass and placed it on a plate that the concierge was collecting.  I said, “omg, thank you!” It was the sweetest gesture ever.  10 minutes later – her, myself, and her friend were chatting it up, under the sun, in the most gorgeous, turquoise waters ever.  She’s a soon-to-be dentist and he’s a soon-to-be engineer.  They said Egypt, especially Cairo, is AMAZING! And that I should visit.  They also told me that September was the perfect month to visit, too.  Therefore, September is when I will set air (not set sail) to Cairo!

With those two massive trips looming in the New Year, I still need to fit in America, and my short Spartan holidays (Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and possibly Melbourne, Australia if my friend becomes a friend again between now and February).  It’s an action packed year approaching!

GaryVee Podcast

Boy! I listened for probably 30 minutes last night and about 30 minutes this morning.  The keys and things he said in the podcasts I listened to relate so much to my podcast in general.  For instance, there was a girl talking about, “I’m not thinking so much of the present right now because our business is losing money…I’m thinking more of the future.”  This struck me because just a few days ago I was pretty down on my podcast plays before I made a podcast + blog about not giving up.  Within 24 hours, I got the best back-to-back day in my podcast history in terms of plays with countries such as China, Mauritius, Hungary, Uganda and others coming on strong.  The thing is you’re going to encounter a lot of setbacks, but those setbacks are needed for the process called “growth.” Never forget that.

Two Days Ago & Dealing With Ignorance

Wednesday was a head scratching day.  It first started with going into a 7-11.  There was a man standing just a few steps back behind the counter.  I, unknowingly, stepped in.  After that, this same man took four giant steps back into the middle of the aisle, standing there with a blank look on his face.  What my historical self would’ve said would be something around the lines of, “oh, you’re acting like an asshole. I didn’t know you were in line.  Come up here? You don’t want to go?”  However, I invited him to come before me and he still had a blank look on his face.  I won’t fight with ignorance, so I decided to just pay and go.  I win, he loses.  Done.

However, later on that evening I had some students laugh and make fun of the Vegas massacre.  Ignorance like that cannot be tolerated, and it often happens here in Thailand, unfortunately.  The lack of sympathy, empathy, compassion and heart runs real deep within 90% of the beings here.  I erupted and some of the other teachers in nearby classrooms heard the commotion.  I said, “do you think that’s funny? 59 people dying is funny to you?” One shrugged her shoulders and I went on a rant, threw some paper at them and that will be the last time ever facing those individuals again.  Now, of course I’ve been reading so much on dealing with people, but that’s a whole different level of ignorance that can only be handled by fury.

Inhale……..exhale.  Everything is perfectly fine.  I feel that the situation last night had to occur for a reason.  My guess is something, or someone, is trying to emerge in that time-frame.  It took a comment from a few individuals for me to say, “find someone else to deal with your ignorance.”  These things happen, people.  Despite my reaction and them, words and pettiness comes and goes a dime a dozen with no value whatsoever.  State what you have to say, and when you say it…know the ramifications of what might happen.  Nevertheless, I’m grateful for having yet another opportunity to teach and speak in this country filled with opportunities.  See, you can change your state-of-mind pretty quick, if you want to.

September – The Last Third of The Year. New Years Resolutions, Anyone?

Ahhh…the month of champions.  Going back to just a year ago….this was the month before a soon-to-be vacation in Bali, Indonesia.  Here in Thailand, this is the month when the climate begins to cool down.  This is when everything that has happened all year long begins to come into fruition.  The excitement, for whatever reason, is reverberating and I can’t even contain myself.  I’m like a 5 year old child on Christmas morning, although Christmas is months away and rarely do I celebrate it.

Perhaps it could be because I’m heading back to Phoenix, Arizona for the second time this year.  It could also be because I’ll be going on a snowboarding trip just after Christmas; staying in a log cabin while eating s’mores.  Yes, the end-of-the-year trip is looming, but that’s probably only 10% of my excitement.

Just being able to have another opportunity, and opportunities flow in one after another is just astounding.  Having my voice heard and my words read all around the world with my podcast and blog; becoming noticed by big time people while doing podcasts with influencers all over the world.  This is just so EXCITING for me!

At the dawn of this year, American websites and Americans in general were saying, “oh, my New Years Resolutions are…..”  It seems that THAT, is an after thought.  I shocked myself this year; in more ways than one, and the most amazing part about it is I’ve exceed not only the New Years Resolutions, but jumped probably 2 years ahead of my time.

What 2018 has in store is quite frankly resounding.  Tedx, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, investments, retirement plans, ridiculous monthly salary, new career path, and so many other things.  I’ve created all of this excitement first in my head so I can hold it in my hand.

Those of you who are probably reading this should know something.  That something is….what do you really want in life? Do you think that life is suppose to be and mean getting a career, make a lot of money (or lack thereof) in a slave job, get married, grow old then leave the body temple? Is that what life is? Maybe for some people….but I love to side with the Dylan Thomas quote, “rage, rage against the dying of the light.”  I’m making noise and as Lisa Nichols says, “be unapologetic about who you are!”  These quotes proliferate within me and today I woke up feeling the best I’ve ever had in my entire life.  What was the feeling? I have no idea, but based on my podcast this morning….I feel that what’s about to happen in my life is going to change the trajectory of everything.

Here’s to a wonderful September! Here’s a toast to a remarkable year up until September….and now it’s time to make more noise for the last third!
