Ramble of Positivity: Episode 030 – Kicking off The New Year on Fire

First and foremost, the majority of you need to understand how to be grateful. When I do this particular podcast, I love to outline just how to do that, so here it is!

Actionable Steps

Give me a list of 5 things you’re especially grateful for — unattached to money.

Give two people compliments throughout your day without being told to do it.

How can you develop a positive mental attitude?

From the beginning of last year, I started developing my mind rigorously — day-in and day-out. For most of you out there, development in general is something of the past. Some of you aren’t even into personal development, and you’ll be doing the same things (if you haven’t already started) this year just like you were doing last year. Same people, same irresponsibility, same habits, same everything. You have to train your mind, and it’s one of the most difficult things to do.

I recall going to Australia back in 2017 and a friend told me, “you’ve changed. You mention being black and you have a thing against caucasians like I’ve never seen before.”

Still carrying the weight of how society, as a whole, has treated me in this country….I was still a victim. In order to escape victimhood, you have to to hone in and own up to everything that has ever happened to you. The University of Hardknocks loves giving out degrees to just about everyone in the world; regardless of race, creed, color, religion, etc.

At the beginning of last year, and as desperate as I was, I came across Napoleon Hill’s Positive Mental Attitude and that was the beginning of the change.

From actionable steps, to habits….you have to train your mind. I’m done with the “I will” and I love “I’m going to” more…because that’s a plan. Will is in the future and will forever be in the future.

  • I’m so unbelievably grateful that I’m living in an age where ample opportunity is everywhere.
  • I’m very thankful for the support group I’ve created that constantly gives me feedback.
  • I’m proud of the fact that I’ve been able to develop my mind to the point that I get amazing ideas to improve my business and give back to the society.
  • With all my heart, thank you for the process last year….a process which was so desperately needed.

Ramble of Positivity: Episode XXIII – Wheels Up! Vacation In Malaysia Begins!

First and foremost, I just want to say thank you to everyone who’s listening to my podcasts in Albania, Latvia, Algeria, UK, USA, Germany, India, Russia, South Africa, Austria, Netherlands, Japan and so many other countries around the world.

I want to also say thank you to my ESL Podcast listeners worldwide who have made my podcast a massive hit in only two weeks time! Big thanks to Mexico, Turkey, USA (funny how folks in USA love my podcasts), and China!.

This is a time just to be grateful for all my hardships and success.  This day, April 13th, marks the day of the Songkran festival.  This is the Thai water festival where people celebrate by splashing others with water all up and down the streets, and across the nation as a whole.

For the last three years, on the other hand, I’ve been taking vacations.  I initially took these vacations because I wanted no part of Songkran after being gravely disrespected and seeing Indians racially spewed at by Thais back in 2015.  I said, “I’ll never celebrate this festival again for as long as I live.”

When April 2016 rolled around I went to Vietnam, meeting some of the most magnificent individuals who I still keep in contact with today.

2017 was a trip back home to Arizona and a Tough Mudder.

This year….Spartan Race!

You know, at the beginning of the year, it was pretty bleak.  It was a tough transition and very emotionally exhausting going from one job to another.  Having a slew of emails come into my email box which were threats from my previous employer and removing me as a teacher from multiple classes so he can stop the cash-flow from going into my bank account, was tough to deal with.

However, this is the day that my visa is officially cancelled with that old job, and this marks the beginning of a unbelievably exhilarating lifestyle that’s going to bring so many experiences into my life.

Guys, this morning I’m going to my favorite Southeast Asian country (Malaysia) for a Spartan Race, meeting with a new content writer who’s coming on board my website, and a wedding.  I mean this is probably marking the beginning of “2018.”  All the goals I’ve written down have now come into fruition, and I really can’t wait for the wheel of life episode to let you all know you can claim that life you’ve always wanted.

Oh, on this day is the beginning of what’s going to be the most unbelievable life I could’ve ever imagined.  All these aches and pains of what has happened over the last five years have come to rest, and now this is surely the beginning.

Welcome to my world.

Transcending Those Limiting Beliefs

“Your subconscious mind does not argue with you.  It accepts what your conscious mind decrees.  If you say, “I can’t afford it,” your subconscious mind works to make it true.  Select a better thought.  Decree, “I will buy it.  I accept it in my mind.”

Dr. Joseph Murphy –

Like what I’ve said in my Lisa Nichols podcasts, our beliefs, especially from when we were young, really control what’s going on today.  It could be beliefs about our own capabilities, belief about what it takes to success, beliefs about how we relate with other people, or common everyday beliefs that we see or live by.  Identify those limiting beliefs (Lisa Nichols – https://www.spreaker.com/episode/10255673) and replace them with positive ones that support your success.

What Are Some of Those Limiting Beliefs?

  • I’m not (smart, attractive, rich, old, or young) enough.
  • I’m not worthy.
  • I’m not lovable.
  • Life is hard until you die.
  • Nothing I do is right.
  • You can’t get rich in this profession.
  • There’s aren’t any good men left in this world.

I recall Tony Robbins talking about how severely paid teachers are in America, and then he went on to speak about a Korean American teacher who went from making 60k USD a year to 4 million…just by destroying that limiting belief of you can’t get rich in this profession.

How To Overcome Any Limiting Belief

  1. Identify the limiting belief that you want to change.  Make a list of all of them that are limiting you.  Invite a couple friends over who would also like to accelerate their growth to join you to brainstorm a list of all the things you hear growing up.
  • Money doesn’t grow on trees.
  • Can’t you do anything right?
  • Eat everything on your plate.
  • Act like a lady.
  • People aren’t interested in your problems.

When you’re finished making this list, pick a belief that is still limiting you and take yourself through the remaining steps of the process.

2. Determine how the beliefs limit you.

3. Decide how you would rather be, act, or feel.

4. Create a turnaround statement that affirms or gives you permission to be, act, or feel this new way.

For example:

  1. My negative limiting belief is Thai women hate black men because that’s what I’ve seen my entire life living out here in Thailand.
  2. The way this limits me is I put every human being of the opposite sex in the same category and that’s called generalizing.  It’s untrue that ALL women hate black men.
  3. The way I want to feel is I need to love myself for who I am and what I look like.  The only person that’s creating this reality is me, and if I continue to say something that’s not true, it will continue to happen.  I want to have smiles directed towards me and women talk to me with no race attached to it.
  4. My turnaround statement Thai women absolutely adore and love black men, including myself.

This is one of the most significant limiting beliefs that somewhat lingers in my mind from time-to-time.  This is also an example of what your statement will look like.  My colleague and I will do a podcast of this within the next couple of weeks so you can hear how it works.

Herbalife’s Best Defense + Echinacea – The Ultimate Constipation Killer

I was sitting across from one of my students who’s a surgeon now studying at the University of Sydney and I was telling her how much energy this specific tablet gave me in the morning.  Aside from the notable 1,000mg of Vitamin C (which Dr. Mark Hyman says taking between 1,000-2,000 a day relieves you of contipation), it has one of the most unique ingredients of the last five hundred years – echinacea.

Echinacea is a North American Coneflower that Native American Indians used over 400 years ago as a herbal remedy.  After the 1950’s, when antibiotics became more prominent, echinacea lost it’s touch in the medicinal realm.  However, being formulated into tablets today and also being available in liquid form, the benefits of this is becoming more apparent.  So, with that being said, lets go over some of these benefits.

  1. Combats Cancer – Dr. Axe recently stated that this is being used as a natural cancer treatment.

The medicinal value of phytochemicals contained in Echinacea is clearly evident and indicates that these agents, as well as phytochemicals not yet discovered in other herbs, may be valuable tools to combat tutors.

2. Boosts the Immune System

Published in the journal Lancet Infectious Diseases, the University of Connecticut performed a meta-analysis study that evaluated 14 studies and determined that:

  • Echinacea cuts the chances of catching a common cold by 58 percent.
  • Echinacea reduces the duration of the common cold by almost one-and-a-half days.

The significance of that finding becomes clear when you consider Americans suffer from one billion colds annually and spend about $1.5 billion annually for doctor’s visits and another $2 billion annually on non-prescription cough and cold treatments.  The United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conversation Service said that 10 milligrams of echinacea per one kilgram of body weight, taken daily over a 10-day period, is effective as an immune system stimulant. For those of you who have rampant colds, especially here in Thai society, this could definitely be useful and it has helped me nurse a few upper respiratory infections in the past.

3. Helps Alleviate Pain –Echinacea’s history began when echinacea purpurea was used by the Great Plains Indians as a painkiller. It’s especially effective for the following types of pain:

  • Pain in the bowels
  • Pain associated with headaches
  • Pain associated with HSV (Herpes)
  • Pain associated with gonorrhea
  • Pain associated with measles
  • Snake bites
  • Sore throats
  • Stomach ache
  • Tonsillitis
  • Toothache

During class and my long teaching days, if I’m ever tired or have a headache, an effervescent tablet in a cold glass of water not only wakes me up, but alleviates the headache.  Also, those who suffer from bloating, especially in the evenings, a glass of water and a drop in liquid form could reduce the discomfort significantly.

4. On top of function as a laxative (relieving constipation) and anti-inflammatory (for those runners on my page), it also helps skin problems.

In a paper prepared by Armando González Stuart, PhD, about herbal safety, it describes how echinacea has been used by various Native American tribes to treat:

  • Arthropod bites
  • Eczema
  • Inflammatory skin conditions
  • Psoriasis
  • Snakebite
  • Skin infections
  • Stings
  • Wound healing
  • It can also be used to regenerate skin.

From improving mental health such as anxiety, depression and a few other things, to combatting infections; the relief of upper respiratory infections is stout.

  • Acute sinusitis
  • All flu’s
  • Common cold
  • Croup
  • Diphtheria
  • Inflammation
  • Strep throat
  • Tuberculosis
  • Whooping cough

Yes, you read it.  TB and whooping cough are on the list.  However, if you don’t believe me, you’re more than happy to do some research on the endless list of articles out there about echinacea.  Here’s my podcast on it and a nice little brochure: https://www.spreaker.com/episode/9169356
